What's the Scoop?

Emma is very eager to use her utensils and master the fine motor skills required for using them. That sounds pretty big, doesn't it? Well, she is taking it pretty seriously... Have a look!

Concentrating

Success! You can see food on her hands, she does get frustrated and grab the food from the bowl sometimes but she continues to practice with the fork.

Now a tricky grape challenge..
Grape slices in a silicone ice tray. This was a little more interesting than offering a bowl and with much less worry about her shoving multiple grapes in her mouth at once. Girl can put away grapes!

She got each one with the fork except this last piece which she scooped out with her fingers.

The final activity was feeding Catrick. This time I gave Emma a bowl of kibbles, her spoon to scoop and Catrick's empty dish.

She enjoys this so much, she asks to feed Catrick all day. Sorry, Goo! Catrick works hard to keep his waistline trim. We can only do this activity every so often. But oh, how good it feels to carefully fix Cat a bowl of food!

Meeow.

    1. Thank you! She's a joy. And now at 2-and-10-months she is more careful and more accurate with her transferring. She can scoop jam from a jar and spread it on bread for herself (if it makes it past her mouth;-))
Forsmallhands.com has lots of child sized tools to help toddlers and children grow both their fine and gross motor skills.
